Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania has everything to offer, from a fun love story to a serious turn when Kavya’s brother and father become belligerent. Despite the cliched plotline, Humpty’s pectoral muscles are a standout, as is Kavya’s quirky personality. Director Shashank Khaitan also directs the film with adroit skill.

Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania Movie Review

Humpty’s pectoral muscles

Besides the iconic chest tattoo, there’s another way to recognize a good actor by the tone of his pectoral muscles. In the recent movie, Humpty Sharma is spotted on the beach in Miami, Florida, with his pectoral muscles covered by an arm tattoo. Humpty is a yuppie and a gym enthusiast, and he swears by Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

In the movie, Humpty and Kavya hit it off from the very beginning, and they have a great time at parties, where they compete over who can guzzle the most beer. After rescuing Kavya’s father, Humpty gets her to agree to an arranged marriage, and Humpty must prove to Pratap Singh that he’s the man she loves. Meanwhile, the two also have to face challenges from Angad Bedi, an NRI.

Kavya’s quirky personality in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania

While this comedy has some memorable moments, the film also misses the real core of its story. The love angle is not properly explored and there is no real chemistry between the leads. A movie review by BollywoodGuru will highlight Kavya’s quirky personality. We’ll also look at her character’s shortcomings and why we should care. Hopefully, this review will help you decide if you should watch Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania.

The film revolves around two college students – Kavya and Humpty. Kavya’s father owns a campus bookstore and she is friends with Humpty and Poplu. Although he is not able to reach Kavya alone, he tries to win her heart. He also helps Kavya get back the money she lost in her blackmailing boyfriend’s scheme. But Kamaljeet, the brother of Kavya’s boyfriend, is a shrewd character who will try to beat up Humpty’s friends to win Kavya’s heart.

Humpty’s third-wheel syndrome

Kavya, the daughter of a wealthy businessman, is planning to get married to a wealthy entrepreneur and has no time to shop. Her father, Kamaljeet, assumes that the two are eloping and accidentally runs into Humpty at the train station. But when he finds Humpty and Kavya together, he is surprised to learn that they are deeply in love.

While Humpty Sharma’s story carries a similar tone, the film is a rehash of DDLJ. But unlike Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, which reimagined the iconic film as a swanky Udupi restaurant, Humpty Sharma’s movie stages similar scenes with affection. The result is a movie that doesn’t feel like a cynical ripoff, but a young director who clearly admires the older filmmakers who shaped the Indian film industry. The film also has a new-generation feel, which is rare in Bollywood.

Shashank Khaitan’s direction

The film’s director and writer, Shashank Khaitan, is known for his association with Dharma Productions, an Indian production company. He works in Hindi films. His direction in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania earned him praise for its powerful storyline. The film’s plot and story line were both highly original and relatable.

A successful filmmaker, Shashank Khaitan has also recently turned producer. His directorial debut Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) starred Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. Before directing Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Khaitan worked as an assistant director to renowned Bollywood director Subhash Ghai. His mentorship has served him well throughout his career.
