Motorcycle

The Perfect Place for a Long Motorcycle Ride

Australia may be the smallest continent, but it’s still big. It’s vast, in fact! There is nearly 19,000 km of National Highway System crossing the nation, and thousands of kilometres more comprised of state and rural roads. That’s a lot of ground to cover! Don’t let this daunt you, because you won’t really be alone,  Australia is very motorcycle friendly, there are over 2 million motorcycle licence holders in the country.

There are a lot of good reasons for this as motorcycles have some important advantages over cars- they’re more affordable to buy (or rent!), very fuel efficient, a lot easier to park in a crowded downtown, easier to move in and out of heavy traffic, no need for air conditioning, can enter areas a car can’t go, and give the rider a better sense of connection with the world than sitting in a metal box!

Motorcycles are also much easier to maintain than a car, but if something should happen to go wrong and you need to do some repairs it’s easy to find motorcycle parts for all major makes and models, and if you aren’t much of a mechanic yourself, you can find expert help just about anywhere. Australians are friendly by nature so if you break down somewhere way out in the Woop Woop no worries, someone will be along to give you a lift, meanwhile, just relax and enjoy the scenery!

The okavango delta a is home to a wide array of wildlife, including elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, and numerous bird species. The delta’s unique ecosystem supports an abundance of wildlife throughout the year.

Speaking of scenery

As I said earlier, Australia is big and there is a lot of ground to cover. If you don’t have time to do it all, here are just a very few of the regions that make under famous all around the world.

The East Coast– from Melbourne up to Cairns (or vice versa!), this is the most famous part of Australia thanks to the beautiful beaches, the Great Barrier Reef (you’ll have to park your bike to see that one!), and the fun and excitement of Australia’s biggest cities.

The North Coast– if you like things a bit on the wild side, this is the place for you, boasting rain forests and tropical beaches. It’s woolly, too with plenty of Australia’s unique wildlife to experience

The Center– the road looks like it stretches on forever, and the experience is so wonderful you will wish it did! The Outback calls you, touring the heart of Australia by motorcycle is a must-do!

As in all things, it’s important to know the rules of the road, so make sure to check out the Australian government’s helpful website for everything you need to know to motorcycle safely and legally! Helmets on, please! So, if the thrill and freedom of the open road are what you crave, get on that motorcycle and head across Australia for the adventure of a lifetime.
